Ash and Flowers of Azraeém on a whole aims to be accessible in terms of the terms necessary to play the game effectively. However, the bare minimum to play would be:
- AN RWS TAROT DECK. This is used for the Combat Oracle. Derivatives of the standard RWS Tarot Deck would also be effective (such as the Modern Witch Tarot, The Supernova Tarot, Everyday Tarot, The Golden Thread Tarot, etc.) or an Online RWS Tarot Reading Randomizer will also do (So long as it has the ability to use and not use the Major Arcana).
- ACCESS TO DIGITAL DICE – While we accept that dice collecting is a thing that many people do, we can’t in good consciousness recommend doing so just to play the game since some moves will require up to 15 to 20 of specifically numbered dice to complete at some point. However, there are plenty of free to use dice rollers that can be used in the situation that rolling dice is necessary.
- PEN AND (GRAPH) PAPER – In the situation that you aren’t using a VTT, Pen and Paper – especially Graph Paper – will be extremely useful for visualizing dungeons and conflicts that you’ll encounter throughout the game.
- YOURSELF – This game is written as a Solo RPG by default with the option to play with others, but in the situation that you just want to play the game alone, you’ll need to make sure you’re at least willing to be present for those sessions.
While we are not affiliated with Owlbear Rodeo in any way shape or form, we are planning on making all digital assets for the game usable for that VTT as it is completely free.
